I am so thrilled you made it to my site. This is my first blog post. I’ll warn you, I’m VERY new to this and appreciate all of your patience as I get my sea legs. I currently live in Seattle, WA and I couldn’t think of a more fitting place for all things Hygge. If you’re still unclear of what hygge means, I’ve included a nifty little definition and pronunciation for you at the top of this post. I think hygge is what you want it to be. For me, it’s a way of living that provides the utmost comfort and security to you and those around you. It’s like being wrapped in a hug- all the time. In my opinion, this is the only way to live. I can say I’ve felt this way most of my life. I am notoriously in love with sleep. Ever since I was a little girl, my family had to force me to wake up. I would much prefer to lay in bed, under my warm flannel sheets, dreaming my day away. This passion for comfort has never left me, not even in full on adulthood. I am currently wrapped up in a blanket, a thick pair of socks and my favorite sweatshirt. My dog next to me on the couch and my water close by. That’s hygge for me at this very moment.

Now, unfortunately, we have to pay the bills and can’t cuddle with our dog on the couch everyday. I will navigate the balance of responsibility and comfort with you. I truly believe it’s an art to be able to simplify, and be happy with less. If a hot bath, candlelight, Bon Iver playing in the background and a good book sounds like your cup of tea (or coffee), then you and I will be fast friends, and I have a feeling we’re not alone. Don’t get me wrong- I am an ambitious, motivated mother, wife and friend. I work 40+ hours a week in a corporate job and do all the things a woman does to keep her family moving like a well-oiled machine. I have learned through trial and error that it’s possible to have both, to be both. I can be that woman, mother, wife.. and I can also be the little girl that just wants to be comfy and cozy with a steaming cup of hot cocoa. This blog will cover several areas, but all will come back to how we can live as hygge humans everyday.
